At the beginning of July, and with the specter of dire tax revenue collections and projections looming, Gov. Charlie Baker lopped off $256 million from legislators’ $39.1 billion fiscal 2017 spending plan. He and House Speaker Robert DeLeo even bickered about the definition of a “balanced budget.”
Well, DeLeo and his colleagues had something to say about those vetoes, restoring more than $220 million in spending with last-minute overrides. Now what?
