McGovern announces nearly $1M for local parks

U.S. Rep James P. McGovern announced $950,000 in federal grant money from the National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Grant Program to parks and recreational projects in Worcester, Sutton, Leominster, Northborough, and Northampton.

Office of Congressman Jim McGovern

U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern

McGovern was in Sutton recently to announce $150,000 to Marion’s Camp Lodge for renovations and woodland trail development. Located on Lake Singletary, for nearly 60 years Marion’s Camp served as the Central Mass. Camp Fire Camp, hosting youth from all over Worcester County.

The grant money will be used to restore and renovate the camp’s historic Goddard Lodge (named after the camp’s namesake Marion Goddard) into a multi-use facility for community events and town summer recreation programs.
