Hanover Theatre ribbon cutting and Theatre District block party tomorrow

The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, June 2, for its renovated building at 551 Main St.

Immediately afterward, 5 to 7 p.m., a Theatre District Block Party is planned at Frank Carroll Plaza in front of the theater.

WCAC's 10th Annual Action Hero AwardsWCAC holds 10th annual Action Hero Awards

The Worcester Community Action Council recently held its 10th annual Action Hero Awards ceremony at the Beechwood Hotel.

The WCAC honored Southbridge Savings Bank, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Timothy P. Murray, Worcester Interfaith’s Frank Kartheiser, Worcester City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr., United Way of Central Mass. President Tim Garvin, Webster Public Schools Superintendent Barbara Malkas and State Representative Joe McKenna.

The keynote speaker was philanthropist Mary DeFeudis.

Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce honors 11 at Business Awards

The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual Business Awards event at The Haven Country Club in Boylston.

Sponsored by Fidelity Bank, the event honored 11 people and businesses from around the area.

Two new stores open at Auburn Mall

Auburn Mall recently announced that AT&T and Journeys Kidz are open.

AT&T, located between Express and The Finish Line, according to the mall, “is the go-to for mobile phones, digital TV packages and broadband Internet services. All of these products and technical support are available at the new in-line store location.”

Journeys Kidz is also open between Zales and Spencer Gifts, near the mall’s Center Court. An extension of the Journeys store, another Auburn Mall retailer, Journeys Kidz “offers trendy footwear and accessories for customers aged 5 to 12. Featured brands include Sperry, Polo, Vans, DC, Nike, Puma, UGG and TOMS. Kids shopping with their parents will also enjoy the store’s TVs playing cartoons and music.”

To make way for Journeys Kidz, Journeys was relocated between Aeropostale and FYE, near the Lord’s & Lady’s Hair Salon entrance.
